On 23 October 2025, members of the Deutsch-Englische Gesellschaft e.V. (DEG) gathered at Bürgerbegegnungsstätte Bayreuth for their bi-monthly English conversation session — this time dedicated to the theme “Scotland.” The evening offered participants the chance to practise English while sharing personal impressions and memories of one of Europe’s most scenic destinations.
After a short discussion on Scotland’s landscapes and cultural highlights, participants launched into lively discussions about their own travel experiences. Some spoke about hiking through the Highlands and discovering the country’s breathtaking natural beauty, while others described the charm of Edinburgh and Glasgow with their rich history, lively arts scenes, and welcoming atmosphere.
The group also exchanged practical travel advice — from scenic routes and cosy B&Bs to tips on exploring the islands. The experience of tasting haggis for the first time even sparked some good-natured laughter and debate.
Throughout the session, the conversation flowed naturally in English. Participants of all levels joined in, supporting each other with vocabulary and expressions when needed. The friendly and relaxed setting made it easy for everyone to speak freely and learn from one another.
This was the last Conversation Session for 2025. Look out for the new dates in the new year!
