The Deutsch-Englische Gesellschaft Bayreuth e.V. (DEG) was founded in 1994 with one clear mission: to build a bridge from Bayreuth into the English-speaking world. We are a cultural society dedicated to fostering understanding, appreciation, and exchange between German and anglophone cultures.

For more than three decades, DEG Bayreuth has been a vibrant part of the local cultural landscape. We celebrate the diversity and richness of English-speaking cultures—bringing people together through events, discussions, social gatherings and educational programmes that highlight the heritage, traditions, language, and contemporary life of anglophone countries.

Our activities range from literary and cultural events to social evenings that create opportunities for lively conversation, community building, and deeper intercultural insight. Whether through themed celebrations, film screenings, talks, or informal meet-ups, we aim to create welcoming spaces where members and guests can experience and explore the many facets of anglophone culture in a friendly, inclusive atmosphere.
